Jen Majura inspires guitarists worldwide with her powerful journey from Stuttgart to global rock stages.

Jen Majura guitar style and solo album journey

Jen Majura stands as one of the most accomplished guitarists in modern rock and metal. Born in Stuttgart, Germany, she began her musical journey at age six with piano before switching to guitar at eight. Her early dedication laid the foundation for a career that would span multiple continents and genres.

Jen Majura developed a versatile playing style that blends technical precision with emotional depth. Her approach combines heavy metal aggression with melodic sensibilities, creating a signature sound that resonates with fans across different musical backgrounds. This unique fusion helped her secure positions in several notable bands throughout her career.

The release of her debut solo album in 2015 marked a significant milestone in her artistic evolution. Jen Majura showcased her songwriting abilities and guitar mastery on this hard rock oriented project. Two years later, she followed with her second solo album, further establishing her identity as a standalone artist beyond her band commitments.

From AC/DC covers to international touring success

Before achieving global recognition, she founded an AC/DC cover band called Black Thunder Ladies in 2009. This project allowed her to hone her performance skills while paying homage to one of rock's greatest bands. The experience proved invaluable for developing stage presence and connecting with live audiences.

Her professional career began in 2000, but it was her work with Rage that brought wider attention. She contributed vocals to their song Lord of the Flies and toured internationally with the band between 2006 and 2009. These high-profile performances demonstrated her ability to thrive in demanding touring environments.

Subsequent memberships in Knorkator and Equilibrium expanded her musical horizons. She played guitar for the Neue Deutsche Härte band Knorkator from 2012 to 2014, then switched to bass for the Viking folk metal group Equilibrium. This versatility across instruments and genres highlighted her adaptability as a musician.

Evanescence years and Grammy winning collaborations

In August 2015, Jen Majura received a career-defining opportunity when she joined the Grammy award-winning band Evanescence. She replaced guitarist Terry Balsamo, stepping into a role that required both technical skill and creative chemistry with the established group. Her tenure with the band lasted from 2015 to 2022.

During her time with Evanescence, she contributed to two studio albums. The first was Synthesis, released in 2017, which featured orchestral reimaginations of the band's classic songs alongside new material. Her guitar work added depth and texture to these ambitious arrangements. The second album, The Bitter Truth, came in 2021 and showcased a heavier, more aggressive direction.

Jen Majura also performed on the band's live album, capturing the energy of their concert performances. Her stage presence and guitar solos became integral parts of Evanescence's live shows during this period. Touring with the band exposed her to massive audiences worldwide, further cementing her reputation as a top-tier rock guitarist.

How We End supergroup and retirement announcement

In March 2023, she joined the supergroup How We End alongside other renowned musicians. The band featured vocalists Diva Satanica from Nervosa and Jake E from Cyhra and Amaranthe. Additional members included guitarist Tom Naumann of Primal Fear, bassist Mitch Kunz, and drummer Adde Larsson. Their debut single My Fighting Heart arrived that same year.

Despite continued success, Jen Majura made the difficult decision to retire from the music industry in June 2025. She cited growing disillusionment with developments in the music business, including AI-related changes and broader societal shifts. Her announcement came after thirteen years of active performance and recording.

Looking back on her career, she expressed gratitude for the experiences, tours, shows, travels, and moments she collected. Jen Majura left behind a legacy of powerful guitar work, memorable performances, and inspiration for aspiring musicians. Her journey from a young guitarist in Stuttgart to international stages remains a testament to dedication and hard work in the music industry.
