Early life
On December 29, 1946, Jacklyn Gise, who would later become Jacklyn Bezos, was born to a Sandia National Laboratories employee.
She was born and raised in Bernalillo, New Mexico, and graduated from high school there.
Jacklyn dated Ted Jorgensen, a unicyclist, in high school.
Jorgensen was 18 and she was 16 when she fell pregnant in 1963, just before their marriage in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.
On July 19 of the same year, they held a second ceremony in the United States.
Two weeks after turning 17, Jacklyn gave birth to Jeff Bezos on January 12, 1964.
At birth, the kid was given the name Jeffrey Preston Jorgensen.
Her high school first tried to prevent her from graduating but eventually gave in after forbidding her from interacting with other students.
Jorgensen's father supported Jorgensen by paying for his tuition because he was struggling financially and had a problem with alcohol use.
When Jeff was 17 months old, Jacklyn filed for divorce and moved back home with Jorgensen's parents.
Adult life
After high school, Jacklyn moved out of her parents' house to rent an apartment and live with Jeff, earning $190 a month as a secretary.

Jeff was adopted by Miguel Bezos with Jorgensen's help.
Jorgensen consented to Jorgensen's request to stop communicating with him in exchange for giving up custody when Jacklyn and Miguel Bezos moved, taking Jeff with them. Houston, Texas, became their new home.
Jacklyn Daughter Christina and then son Mark Bezos were born to Miguel Bezos.
Jacklyn completed her studies at Saint Elizabeth College at the age of 40, 20 years after beginning.
To launch Amazon.com in 1995, Jeff received a loan from Jacklyn and Miguel for US$245,573, giving them both 6% ownership. They eventually moved to Florida.
