Anna Delvey: The Fake Heiress Who Fooled New York's Elite
Anna Delvey, born Anna Sorokin, rose to infamy as a con artist who infiltrated New York's elite social circles by posing as a wealthy German heiress. Between 2013 and 2017, she defrauded banks, hotels, and individuals out of approximately $275,000 through elaborate schemes involving bad checks, forged documents, and promises of lavish repayments. Her audacious lifestyle, complete with luxury hotel stays at the Beekman and fake wire transfers, captivated the public after her 2017 arrest. The Netflix series "Inventing Anna" brought her story to global audiences, turning her into a paradoxical icon of deception and ambition in modern society.

The Scam
Sorokin came up with the idea of the "Anna Delvey Foundation" – a private members' club and art foundation – and unsuccessfully sought funding from wealthy members of the city's social scene.

She was convicted in 2019 and sentenced to four to 12 years in prison.
Life After Prison
Sorokin was released from prison in February 2021. She has since been collaborating with a TikTok star on a music single. Sorokin's story was also adapted into a Netflix series called "Inventing Anna".
